VS Code extension
Install and sign in
Get the extension from the Marketplace or a downloaded file, then connect your account.
There are two ways to install SiliCode for VS Code: straight from VS Code's Extensions view, or from the Visual Studio Marketplace. Both give you the same extension. Pick whichever is easier on your machine, then sign in once.
Install from inside VS Code
This is the quickest route, and VS Code keeps the extension up to date for you.
- 1
Open the Extensions view
Click the Extensions icon in the Activity Bar, or press Ctrl+Shift+X (Cmd+Shift+X on a Mac).
- 2
Search for SiliCode
Type SiliCode in the search box. Look for SiliCode for VS Code published by SiliCode. If you want to be certain you have the right one, search for its identifier instead: silicode.silicode-vscode.

A few seconds later the SiliCode icon appears in the Activity Bar. You do not need to restart VS Code.
Install from the Marketplace
The Install for VS Code link under the prompt box on our home page opens the extension's Marketplace page. From there you have two options.
Use the Install button
Press Install on the Marketplace page. Your browser asks to open VS Code; allow it, and VS Code shows the extension with its own Install button. Press that and you are done.
Download the file and install it yourself
This is the way to go when VS Code cannot reach the Marketplace, for example on a machine behind a strict proxy, or when you want to keep a copy of the exact version you installed.
- 1
Download the .vsix file
On the Marketplace page, open Version History and choose Download next to the latest version. You get a single file named like silicode-vscode-<version>.vsix, where <version> is the version you downloaded.

Reload if VS Code asks
VS Code sometimes offers to reload the window after installing from a file. Accept it and the SiliCode icon appears in the Activity Bar.
If you prefer the terminal, the same file installs with one command:
code --install-extension silicode-vscode-<version>.vsixUse the name of the file you actually downloaded in place of silicode-vscode-<version>.vsix.

Updating and uninstalling
Installed from the Extensions view or the Marketplace, the extension updates itself like any other. To remove it, find SiliCode for VS Code in the Extensions view and choose Uninstall. Uninstalling leaves your account, your chats and every file it wrote into your workspace untouched. To sign out without uninstalling, use the account menu or the SiliCode: Sign Out command.
